Hocoma devices have always been forerunners in rehabilitation technology and have therefore sparked a lot of interest, not only with clinicians, but also in the research community. We are proud to say that today, over 500 peer reviewed journal articles have been published that include our devices and Hocoma is partnering with the most recognized research institutions in the world. Clinical Trial Management

Hocoma has many long standing partnerships with world leading research institutions who are interested in the effects of our devices on patients’ rehabilitation success.
Currently, our research focus is centered around the following topics:


What are the economic advantages of the Lokomat? We are collaborating with research-experienced clinical health economists on this topic.


How can one increase the efficiency of delivering therapy thanks to Hocoma devices? We are collaborating with research-experienced clinical health economists on this topic.


What are the training advantages of the Augmented Performance Feedback? We are collaborating with research-experienced clinical partners to investigate the effect of using augmented performance feedback in a longitudinal study.

Clinical Research Expertise

Hocoma’s research partners have a leading role in rehabilitation research in the world, and they are happy to share their knowledge and experiences upon request. Hocoma helps to connect people around the world in order to move the field of rehabilitation technology forward. One example of how we do this is the Hocoma-initiated ARTIC network (Advanced Robotic Therapy Integrated Centers).

Advanced Robotic Therapy Integrated Centers (ARTIC) artic

ARTIC is an international network of trailblazer institutions in the use of advanced rehabilitation technologies. The network was originally initiated by, but is now independent of Hocoma. It is currently chaired by PD Dr. Hubertus van Hedel, Head of Research at the Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adolescents of the University Children’s Hospital Zurich. By introducing a standardized assessment protocol, the members generate valuable data upon which evidence-based guidelines can ensure a sophisticated use of modern technology and therefore improve patient outcome. Active member are Spaulding Rehabilitation Center, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Rehaklinik Zihlschlacht, Kinder-, und Jugend Rehabilitationszentrum Affoltern, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Wellington Hospital, Schön Kliniken Vogtareuth, Von Haunersches Kinderspital München, Rehabilitace Kladruby, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Moss Rehab and Sheltering Arms.
